SHAP Scholarship

State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania (SHAP) and
Scott Brown Memorial Scholarship

~Announcement 2024~

The State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania (SHAP) announces the availability of the Scott Brown Memorial Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year. This scholarship is designed for students who intend to pursue careers in the Pennsylvania fruit industry. The original scholarship is named in memory of Scott Brown, a fruit grower who was known for his encouragement and leadership in the fruit industry and his own community. Scott was an active member of the Research and Endowment Fund committees of SHAP and past president of the York Fruit Growers Association.

The amount of the scholarship awarded will be $3,000. Scholarship applicants must maintain full time enrollment in an undergraduate program at a university, college, community college or trade or technical school. Scholarships are open to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in a degree program. Applicants will be judged on their academic performance record, community and civic involvements, leadership, and vision for their contribution to the Pennsylvania fruit industry. The award is not based on need.

The recipients will be notified of selection by June 15, 2024.
